It wasn’t any monument of Kolkata that caught the attention of Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra — the two new faces of Ekta Kapoor’s latest production for NDTV Imagine —when they touched down in the city on Friday morning.
It was three boats, parked right on VIP Road, near Bangur. Seeing the three boats ‘on duty’ (maintained by the West Bengal government), Karan’s first reaction was, “Oh my God! Boats on VIP Road?” When we explained that it was a precautionary measure taken by the government because of the monsoons, the duo was surprised. “I have heard about Aila. This is my first visit to Kolkata. I wanted to see the electric trams and gorge on the food here, but I hadn’t bargained for a boat on the highway!” quipped NIFT pass-out-turned-actor, Kritika. The pretty actor finds the City of Joy quite similar to Mumbai — warm, bustling and abuzz with activity. “I haven’t found this kind of ambience anywhere else in India,” she said, even while Karan got busy surveying the top of one of the boats. “Can I pose on top of one of these? It would make a great profile picture to put up on social networking sites!” said Karan, quickly following up his words with action. Incidentally, it was Karan’s picture on one of these sites, that got the Soap Queen to notice him! Wonder who will spot this dreamboat next!

Karan's onscreen character is so endearing that I instantly fell in love with him. I can't keep my eyes off Karan Kundra. He is truly handsome. Both Karan and Kritika are spontaneous actors. This is Karan's first stint as an actor on Television. Wish him luck!

However, the young lad is just the opposite of the arrogant, angry brat that he plays on screen. “Well, all I can say is that Arjun Punj is a larger than life version of Karan Kundra. Anger is what Arjun Punj is made of, but in real life I am the naughtiest person in my family. Even on the sets, I play pranks on everyone”, quips Karan.
“I always have a smile on my face, and Arjun Punj can”t even pretend to smile (laughs). However, I am happy the way my character has unfolded. I am now looking forward to the transition phase where I guess the guy will mellow down due to Aarohi’’s love”, adds Karan.
But having said this, Karan also feels that he will miss the Arjun Punj with attitude when he gets into the romantic phase in the story. “I just hope Arjun has little bit of attitude in him even when he gets in love with Aarohi (grins)”, concludes Karan.
Well, we hope that his pleasing smile gets tagged to his on screen character too!!

What is the value of a woman in your life?
I come from a family where I am surrounded by only women. Men are outnumbered in our home, as I have a mother and 3 elder sisters who have taught me everything. Women can make or break a man''s life (smiles).
How do you see the ''Woman of Today''?
Woman of today is very powerful; she knows her rights, not scared at all to face the world. She basically knows her place in her society and when things go wrong, she has the determination to get her place back.
Name the woman who you admire or respect the most?
Professionally, I admire Ekta ma''m as she is the first powerful woman I have come across. I look up to her for everything. In my real life, my life is my mother and my three sisters.
