It wasn’t any monument of Kolkata that caught the attention of Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra — the two new faces of Ekta Kapoor’s latest production for NDTV Imagine —when they touched down in the city on Friday morning. It was three boats, parked right on VIP Road, near Bangur. Seeing the three boats ‘on duty’ (maintained by the West Bengal government), Karan’s first reaction was, “Oh my God! Boats on VIP Road?” When we explained that it was a precautionary measure taken by the government because of the monsoons, the duo was surprised. “I have heard about Aila. This is my first visit to Kolkata. I wanted to see the electric trams and gorge on the food here, but I hadn’t bargained for a boat on the highway!” quipped NIFT pass-out-turned-actor, Kritika. The pretty actor finds the City of Joy quite similar to Mumbai — warm, bustling and abuzz with activity. “I haven’t found this kind of ambience anywhere else in India,” she said, even while Karan got busy surveying the top of one of the boats. “Can I pose on top of one of these? It would make a great profile picture to put up on social networking sites!” said Karan, quickly following up his words with action. Incidentally, it was Karan’s picture on one of these sites, that got the Soap Queen to notice him! Wonder who will spot this dreamboat next!
